Cheapest and Priciest Countries for These Summer Vacations

In summer 2019, Russians had the largest average bills for guided tours and taxi in Greece, for museum tickets in Spain, and for buses in Cyprus. Rooms in French hotels cost tourists thrice as much as in Russian ones. They paid most for orders in French restaurants and in Thai bars. These conclusions were made by analysts of Yandex.Money, having studied payments of Yandex.Money card holders from May till August this year. Countries that are popular* among Russians for travel were considered.

Transportation: budget-friendly Turkey

Russian tourists had the largest average bills for taxi in Greece (3,686 rubles), Italy (1,565 rubles), and Turkey (1,482 rubles). However, in Turkey they paid least of all for railway tickets, or 401 rubles on average, while the tickets cost most at a time in Georgia (2,315 rubles) and Italy (1,977 rubles).

Travellers got the largest average bills for car rental in Greece and France, or 18,957 and 17,862 rubles respectively, while in Cyprus they spent nearly half as much (9,272 rubles on average) and a third as much in Italy (6,354 rubles).

Internal flights turned out to be cheapest in Turkey, where an average check was 1,037 rubles. Users spent most of all on them in Thailand, or 7,639 rubles on average. Among European countries, France took the lead in the average check with 4,534 rubles. Interestingly, in Russia it is almost same (4,154 rubles).

The largest average payments for bus tickets were in Cyprus (3,278 rubles) and in France (3,203 rubles), the smallest ones in Turkey (232 rubles).

If we look at transportation expenses in general, Russians had the highest ones in France, Greece, and Cyprus and the lowest ones in Turkey and Georgia.

Accommodation and food: pricy France

This year, the largest average checks for rooms in hotels were in France (7,483 rubles) and Italy (6,577 rubles) and the smallest in Turkey (3,391 rubles). At that, analysts considered payments by Yandex.Money cards for both accommodation booking and booking prolongation and late check-out. Only those who traveled across Russia spent even less on hotels at a time (2,386 rubles).

As for orders in cafés, customers spent most in Italy (811 rubles on average) and least in Turkey (410 rubles) and Georgia (259 rubles). In restaurants, their largest average bills were in France (2,013 rubles) and Thailand (1,851 rubles) and the smallest ones in Turkey (763 rubles) and Georgia (702 rubles). In bars, people left most money in Thailand (3,122 rubles on average), Turkey (2,256 rubles), and Cyprus (2,125 rubles) and least in Spain (813 rubles).

Leisure: tours not for the poor

Museum and tourist show tickets cost Russians most in Thailand (22,131 rubles on average) and least in Turkey (854 rubles) and Georgia (635 rubles).

As for the average check for guided tours, the first place was taken by Greece (11,953 rubles), the second by Tunisia (10,953 rubles), and the third by Cyprus (9,978 rubles), while France (4,378 rubles) and Georgia (2,656 rubles) hit rock bottom.

As for cruises, cinema, bowling, and other entertainments, customers spent most of all in Italy (2,766 rubles on average), Thailand (2,360 rubles), and Spain (1,733 rubles) and least of all in Georgia (618 rubles) and France (644 rubles).
