Within the last year, 29% Russians have made tourist trips. Russians are ready to spend more money on overseas than domestic vacations. Russians would like to visit Italy and France, as well as Turkey and the USA most of all. Almost every tenth Russian does not want to go abroad. This is evidenced by the results of a study conducted by NAFI Research Centre in August 2019.

Every fifth person has had travel trips across Russia during the last year (21%). The number of whose who traveled abroad is half as large (8%). Inhabitants of the Northwestern Federal District (14%), as well as Russian capitals (15%) went abroad more often.

Russians who made travel trips saved money for their vacations themselves most often (72%, which is a reduction by 15 p. p. as compared to the last year). 10% noted that their relatives or acquaintances paid for them. Roughly equal shares (4-5%) took on a loan for vacation or borrowed money from their friends or relatives.

Planning a trip around Russia, most people are ready to spend no more than 40 thousand rubles per person—this answer was given by 60% of those who made tourist trips. Every fourth one (25) is ready to spend 40 to 60 thousand rubles; 11%, 60 to 100 thousand rubles; and 4%, more than 100 thousand rubles.

Russians are ready to spend more abroad: every tenth person (9%) budgets for more than 100 thousand rubles per person on a trip; every fifth one (20%), for 60 to 100 thousand; every third one (33%), for 40 to 60 thousand. 38% Russians who made tourist trips are going to spend fewer than 40 thousand rubles.

Most often, Russians would like to spend their vacation in Italy, France, the USA, Turkey, or Germany (see more in the table below). Every tenth Russian would unlikely go abroad, preferring domestic tourism.
