Despite the fact that the pandemic associated with Covid-19 is gradually weakening around the world, the organizers of gaming industry events do not want to risk the health of thousands of participants and decide to postpone conferences and forums to the following 2021. But don't worry, this year's events will also be held in an online format.

Read our blog to find out when the official events of the Russian gaming industry will take place and where they can be viewed.

IgroMir 2020 and Comic Con Russia 2020

This year IgroMir and Comic Con Russia will be held in an online format. On October 3 to 4, the official IgroMir and Comic Con Russia VKontakte community will host a live broadcast from the studio. The organizers promise exclusives for new movies and games, presentations of fresh comics, gifts drawing and the first interactive cosplay contest.

Some users were happy with this news – after all, not everyone previously had the opportunity to attend the event live, but this year everyone will be able to see it online on an equal basis. However, avid fans of IgroMir and Comic Con were upset, as many even planned a vacation for this period just to get to the event, and also prepared incredible cosplay images.

The organizers plan to return to the previous format in October 2021.

Last year, IgroMir 2019 and the Comic Con Russia festival were visited by more than 183 thousand people in four days of operation, and the number of views of the live broadcast of the event exceeded 5 million. More than 200 participating companies presented the main novelties of the gaming world and pop culture at more than 200 stands and retail locations. The total exhibition area amounted to more than 26.000 sqm. The event was sponsored by Mega Drive, MTS, Samsung and Solar Power.

DevGAMM 2020

On May 14 to 15, DevGAMM Moscow, the largest conference for game developers and publishers in the CIS, was held in an online format. The online event was attended by 1,303 professionals from 647 companies, with 81 presentations, 886 scheduled and 1,326 unplanned meetings. The main part of the visitors was from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. The online event was also attended by gaming industry specialists from the USA, Germany, Great Britain, Canada, China and other countries.

The organizers still hope to hold the event in usual format in Minsk on November 19-20. More than 2,500 professionals from 40 countries are expected to participate.

DevGAMM is the largest conference for gaming industry professionals in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. The advantages of DevGAMM: high-quality content on the topic of game development, a low entry threshold for novice developers, and a series of events aimed at a productive time and effective networking.

White Nights 2020

The international business conference for the gaming industry White Nights Summer has already been held online on July 20-24. The participants include: Riot Games, Rovio, Avalanche Studio, Gearbox Software, Miniclip, Netmarble, and many others. Each of the five days of the conference is a new virtual location, a new city. The conference "visited" London, Berlin, Shenzhen, San Francisco and Saint Petersburg. During each day, event viewers were introduced to the regional market that the city belongs to, leading local companies, and the community of game developers. In addition to the lecture part, participants of the event could show their game at the developers' exhibition, meet investors and publishers, and talk to them directly in a video chat format.

But the fate of White Nights Moscow organizers have not yet reported – the event is still scheduled for October 14-15, 2020, but in what format it will be held is still unknown.

Uralcon 2020

The annual Ural festival of fantasy and role-playing games was also held online this year. On April 25, everyone could watch the main transaction live in YouTube, as well as in Vkontakte and Twitch.

They didn't go online

Some event organizers decided that the best solution would be not to hold the festival this year at all, but to hold it in the usual format in the next 2021. So this year, the largest festival in the South of Russia, Cybercon 2020, and the entertainment festival traditionally held in Samara, Igropolis 2020, were canceled.
