In Uzbekistan, social media platforms reach millions of users, becoming key channels for content consumption. Against this backdrop, the blogosphere is rapidly expanding, with active creators already exceeding 15,000–20,000. At the same time, audiences are increasingly trusting native content.

Among platforms, Instagram is used by approximately 96,000 influencers, thanks to its wide range of content formats, including photos, stories, and reels, making it a convenient space for advertising integrations. TikTok is rapidly gaining traction and emerging as a leading platform, with around 194,000 influencers. Telegram remains popular among news-following audiences in Uzbekistan’s digital space. Many KOLs run their own channels and groups, sharing news and exclusive materials. On YouTube, approximately 8% of them are active, totaling 16,500 creators. The most popular figures on this platform are celebrities, who use it to publish music videos and concert performances.

Social Media Use in Uzbekistan

More than 83% of the population actively uses the Internet, with many preferring mobile devices. In 2024, the number of mobile users increased by 10% compared to the previous year, contributing to the growth of digital advertising. 

At the beginning of last year, the number of active social media users in Uzbekistan reached 8.7 million, accounting for 24.6% of the total population. This marked a significant surge from the previous year, with an increase of 4.5 million people (107%). Among social media audiences, 37% are women and 63% are men. The core demographic falls within the 18–34 age range, representing approximately 70% of all social media participants.

Facebook, Telegram, Instagram, and TikTok generate the highest message volume, while Telegram dominates in Uzbek-language content. In Uzbekistan, users engage in both Uzbek and Russian, with Russian being more prevalent on platforms like Instagram and YouTube.

Trends for Uzbek Audience Engagement

Audience activity in Uzbekistan’s social media remains high. On Instagram, the average engagement rate reaches 5–7%. At the beginning of last year, 29.5% of the country’s internet users were exposed to advertising on the platform, with 37% of ad viewers being women and 63% men. TikTok shows even higher engagement, reaching up to 10%, driven by interactive formats and algorithms. The platform’s ad campaigns cover 13.6% of Uzbekistan’s adult population and 10.6% of all internet users. Among ad viewers, 34.7% are women, while 65.3% are men.

Short videos continue to gain popularity, fueling TikTok’s growth and boosting the adoption of Instagram Reels. In addition to entertainment content, there is a growing demand for educational and expert materials, particularly in technology and innovation.

Brands are increasingly collaborating with Uzbek influencers, contributing to the growth of the local KOL market. The most popular topics are fashion, beauty, and lifestyle, accounting for around 30% of content creators. Approximately 20% focus on technology, gadgets, and education, while the rest cover travel, culture, cooking, sports, and social topics.

Top Uzbek Telegram Influencers

Telegram is the most popular messaging app in Uzbekistan, with 18 million users, covering 78% of the country’s internet audience. The service hosts approximately 64,000 channels with Uzbek-based geography.

In October 2024, users published 47.3 million posts, making Telegram the leading platform by content volume. Uzbek-language content accounts for 65% of all publications.

The most active influencers on Telegram come from the legal, sports, and education sectors, maintaining highly engaged channels.

TikTok reaches 3.12 million users, accounting for 13.6% of the country’s adult population. During the same period, 2.03 million posts were created on the platform, and the number of active authors reached 195,000.
