City Description
Yakutsk is the capital of Russia's largest region, where the absence of year-round road and rail links to much of the republic makes aviation the primary transport mode. Trunk routes to Moscow, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, Vladivostok and St. Petersburg carry roughly three quarters of traffic, with intra-regional flights to northern settlements forming the rest (airport reporting). The airport sits within city limits with short road access to the centre.
